MODEL  SPACE  STANDARDS

First  Chapter

As the name implies, model space is a special place where an object (a floor plan or an elevation of a building for instance) can be created in a 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional representation - in actual size and in real world units.  Viewports are 'windows in paper space' which allow us to look into areas of model space at any chosen scale, orientation, or perspective desired.  In essence model space is real world space.

Viewports into model space allow us to view as much or as little of an actual-scale model as we want.  By zooming in, or zooming out, we can zero in on an entire city, a group of buildings, or a window sill detail.
